It’s been a month already since my boyfriend and I came home again from Mallorca, but still I felt I really needed to share our adventures.
As is the case every Summer, we wanted to travel to a beautiful and sunny destination. We booked our trip to the Spanish island of Mallorca very last minute. I’m talking five (!) days before departure. I truly don’t know how we end up booking our trips at the very last minute like every single time. Especially because last minute decisions are actually what we want to avoid when booking a trip, because of the more limited choice of hotels and bed and breakfasts. In spite of all this, our stays in Mallorca were beyond perfect.
Palma De Mallorca
The very first day, when we arrived at Palma airport, we took a shuttle bus from the airport to our hotel. Cédric and I discovered Palma De Mallorca by foot, getting lost in a maze of countless little streets. I was so charmed by this city’s ancient architecture and its nice, friendly population. The second day we decided to tour around the city by bike, because our feet were sore and it simply is a really fun way to explore any city.
The first two nights we stayed in Hotel Almudaina. The hotel is located right in the heart of Palma’s truly enchanting city center. The capital itself is situated in the southern region of the island. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel, it really was the perfect hub for a city trip to Palma De Mallorca if you would’ve asked me. The hotel is located right in the middle of the main shopping street, which obviously was a nice bonus! Even though the hotel was situated in a very lively neighbourhood, we could easily get away from the city noises to enjoy a satisfying night’s sleep.
After we’d been exploring Palma De Mallorca for two days, we headed off to Pollença. We got ourselves a rental car, which we would be driving for the last six days of our trip, to our next destination. During that second part of our trip we stayed in Hotel Posada de Lluc. In stark contrast to our adventures in the island’s capital, Pollença was a much more laid back experience. Essentially I feel like we made the ideal transition from exploration into relaxing. The hotel was cared for in even the smallest level of detail and overall it was a very pleasant environment to enjoy the unique island vibe.
Needless to say our last hotel had a swimming pool, where we spent a lot of time. I enjoyed cooling down in the pool, while chilling on my pink flamingo. My boy and I spent our last few days exploring Mallorca’s magical north-western towns and looking for some good places to enjoy dinner. The fact that we drove from the southern coast to the northern in under one hour, proves that it’s only a small island. This is exactly why you need to rent a car, which grants you the instant liberty of visiting tons of different places in no time. It would be a shame if you stayed in one place throughout your entire holidays. You really have to get out there and discover all this beautiful island’s coves, mountains and charming villages.
Maybe I’ve encouraged you to book your next summer vacay to Mallorca, I can truly recommend this destination. Mallorca was one of the best trips I’ve made in my life so far.
